The perfect wedding :)

The last couple of weeks have been great :). We had orientation last week, which went really well...minus one little girl puking her guts out within the first twenty minutes the first day. lol such is life. We made it though and we proceeded to our first couple of days of school. I can't believe it's my first week of year 2! Crazy how fast it goes! It's sad seeing my kinders in 1st grade...but also a really good thing!!! We had a good weekend too. There are a new group of language students here too which is really cool. We've made some cool friends. One guy is actually from Cincinnati and knows my dad...which is great, but even better, he shares my appreciation for Skyline. Obviously we're going to have a party. Yumm. Let's see, I went to church for an awesome service, worked at the jail and had a mother's day party for the women there, and went to a jazz club to listen to the best band in CR play. It's been good so far! So my most recent deep thinking comes in this form (it's been a while since I've preached). The perfect wedding. So coming back I was slightly worried about being lonely here due to all the changes. Plus, having all my friends be married or getting married has been a big change for me. I prayed about this and God has just totally blown me away with His love. The best news I've heard is that He created us and therefore knows exactly how to meet our deepest needs. Needs that no one else can meet. He knows us better than anyone else and it's great. He is our perfect life partner. As others may come and go, friends may move away, spouses may not live up to the dream or pass away, etc....but God, He just remains, just as faithful as ever. This is what I picture: a perfect guy. Anything you could possibly want in you spouse. Someone faithful, kind, sensitive, strong, provides for you, knows you deeply, cares for you, protects you, has grace on you, patient, has a good sense of humor, makes great plans, loves you deeply, surprises you with little things, helps you through hard things, there to talk whenever you need Him, good with kids (lol), never fails, the list could go on and on. I just see Him standing before me, all I could ever want and the best news is, is that He wants me. He is WAY out of my league, yet He is pursuing me. He wants me with all of His heart. I'm totally not good enough, but He thinks I'm beautiful. I can just see me walking down this aisle in dirty rags and as I get halfway down I transform into a beautiful bride, all decked out and beautiful. But that's not why He's smiling, He's smiling and crying because He knows who I have become on the inside...He loves me for who He's made me become. For this beautiful and new creation in Him. And it's not like He just asking me to love Him. He died in my place to show me how much He meant it...because there is no better way to show love than to lay down your life for a friend. I mean, just think about it, this perfect life partner who can meet every need is just presenting himself before me...someone who can fill me and love me without fault, and here I am searching for other things to love me. Don't get me wrong, I totally appreciate friends and marriage, but man, what are we missing by looking for Christ's love in imperfect people. As I finally get to the altar, I can see the scars in His brow and feel the scars on His hands. That was for me, for this. And how easy for me...I can be His, if I just say yes to His love. Oh I might have to sacrifice some things, He might carry me to another country or whatever it may be, but there He is holding my hand. It doesn't get better than that. How blessed we are to have this available and to truly understand what this means. Very cool. Psalm 90:14 "Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, so that we may rejoice and be glad all our days."

I enjoyed reading your post on “the perfect wedding”. Just last night I was at a church service and one of the songs really touched me and reminds me of some of your words. It was called “Emmanuel’s Land” Here are the lyrics. There is also a poem called “Last Words” by Mrs. A. R. Cousin that is very similar and longer. I’m sure you can google it if you’re interested.

Sorry this is a crazy-long comment! :)

1. The sands of time are sinking,
The dawn of heaven breaks;
The summer morn I’ve sighed for -
The fair, sweet morn awakes:
Dark, dark had been the midnight
But dayspring is at hand,
And glory, glory dwelleth
In Emmanuel’s land.

2. The king there in His beauty,
Without a veil is seen:
It were a well-spent journey,
Though seven deaths lay between:
The Lamb with His fair army,
Doth on Mount Zion stand,
And glory, glory dwelleth
In Emmanuel’s land

3. O Christ, He is the fountain,
The deep, sweet well of love!
The streams on earth I’ve tasted
More deep I’ll drink above:
There to an ocean fullness
His mercy doth expand,
And glory, glory dwelleth
In Emmanuel’s land.

4. The bride eyes not her garment,
But her dear Bridegroom’s face;
I will not gaze at glory
But on my King of grace.
Not at the crown He giveth
But on His pierced hand;
The Lamb is all the glory
Of Emmanuel’s land.

5. O I am my Beloved’s
And my Beloved is mine!
He brings a poor vile sinner
Into His house of wine
I stand upon His merit -
I know no other stand,
Not e’en where glory dwelleth
In Emmanuel’s land.

Hope you are well,
