This weekend has definitely had its ups and downs. Friday I had bball practice and then I worked on school work all night long. I was so overwhelmed with the workload that I felt sick. I'm trying to plan for the half-day kindergarten and trying to set up the special education program and it is just a little crazy. On Saturday though, we had a nice break. We went to the market and then we went to get pedicures!! It was such a fun time. They are only 4,000 colones, which is roughly $8 here. And we have little designs on our toenails. To you men reading this, you probably don't think that is a big deal. But pedicures are from $30-$50 in the U.S. and they feel so good when you always have dirty beat up feet from walking everywhere in the dirt and rain. It was a huge blessing. Then we went to some of our teacher friends' house and they made us some authentic Costa Rican dishes like fried plantains, lentil soup, gauacamole, corn pancakes and a plantain with sugarcain dessert. It was wonderful. I liked everything but the dessert was a new experience. It was this brown mixture with plantains, sugar cain, milk, and then some cheese. Very interesting...the cheese got to me a little bit. :) Then today we had church and grocery shopping and some missionary friends invited us over for a spaghetti lunch, which was such a treat. Well that's just a summary and so much else has happened. Thank you so much for your continuing prayers. I will be returning to the states this week for a little bit because one of my best friends is getting married, but I won't be home at all. I'm excited to see my mom and some friends...but I think it will be weird to be back in the States. Life is so different here. I'm especially excited to pick up some things that we would like to have that you can't get here or that are very expensive here. So that will be good. Well I must go plan since I will be gone. God bless you for your prayers for strength and faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Tricia,
I can appreciate the $8 pedicure! I could not however handle myself half as well as you are there. Your posting has really inspired me and reminded me that I try to lean on myself too often and control life when all God is asking from me is to trust in Him and let Him provide.
Hope you have a great few days with your mom and friends. Know that we wish you were coming here but we'll look forward to when you do!
Julie
